Meet our new debt recovery case handler, Katie Szolin
“I don’t like to call it being nosy,” says Katie, “but I have always been curious and inquisitive, and I think the law offers me a chance to use these qualities to help people.”
It was after leaving Nottingham Trent University with her law degree that Katie was introduced to founder Philip Elliot and director Robyn Baxter via mutual friends who knew she was keen to get to work.
They offered her a part-time job and Katie was keen to accept, seeing Robyn as something of a potential role-model.
“She did a law degree and became a director at such a young age; she’s defintiely someone I aspire to be and her knowledge of debt recovery and some of the legal processes involved is second to none.”
‘Further studies’
Katie is hoping for a long career in law – in the family, sports or employment sectors – but is happy for the moment to gain as much experience as possible.
“I do want to go back to university for further studies whether that be undertaking the Legal Practice Course or the new SQE (Solicitors Qualifying Examination) to be able to qualify as a solicitor,” she says.
Away from the office, Katie loves ice hockey and is a season ticket holder at the Nottingham Panthers.
“I also enjoy rugby and going to watch either the Army vs Navy at Twickenham or my brother and his team down at Lady Bay in West Bridgford,” adds Katie who also has her work cut out stopping her recue dog, Luna, running rings around her.
“She’s a mini-Manchester Toy Terrier cross who is blind and only turns to the left!”
